Wesclin High School’s math team competed in the final Southwest competition on October 30th. 26 members of the team traveled to Southwestern Illinois College for the competition. The team took 3rd overall out of all of the 2A schools in attendance. Many of the team members were top finishers out of the few hundred students in attendance. The top finishers from Wesclin included Rachel Terwilliger, a junior, who finished in 8th place, freshman Hayden Evans, who finished in 7th place, seniors Ethan Boulanger and Blake Kohlbrecher, who tied in 6th place, junior Cameron Johnson, who finished in 5th place, and junior Owen Henderson, who finished 1st place. Math competitions are always a great opportunity for the students to compete and better themselves. When asked about the last competition of the fall, math team sponsor Mrs. Brede, said, “It’s always great to compete. Any time we place in the top three of a competition I consider it a great success.” The Wesclin math team brought yet another trophy to add to their collection.
