A free screening clinic for children from birth up to 5 years of age (not yet Kindergarten eligible) is being offered in the Wesclin School District. The clinic includes checks of infant-toddler language development, motor coordination and social skills. Preschool-age children are also screened for pre academic skills, vision and hearing.
The screening takes approximately 30 minutes, and parents are provided with immediate feedback about their children’s performance, as well as information about services for which their children may qualify. Early Intervention, speech/language therapy, Preschool For All, Head Start and early childhood special education programs are all available free of charge to eligible children. Screening identifies children who may need further evaluation, and possibly some type of medical or educational assistance.
If your child has a potential problem area, it could inhibit his ability to learn. Early intervention can significantly change a child’s developmental potential, and reduce the chance of him experiencing failure or requiring special help during the school years.
